Project Assistant – National Position

About the role

The Project Assistant will support the coordination and implementation of a nationally‑scaled development project in Iraq. Working closely with the Project Manager, Area Coordinator and Country Representative, the role ensures smooth execution of activities across multiple governorates.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate project components to ensure consistency across governorates and maintain an integrated overview of progress and deliverables.
• Liaise with Field Coordinators, support field‑level planning, logistics, and undertake missions to monitor implementation and quality.
• Facilitate stakeholder communication with ministries, chambers of commerce, TVET centres, private sector actors, local authorities and CSOs.
• Organise coordination meetings, workshops and stakeholder events, preparing relevant materials and documentation.
• Provide administrative and logistical support, including procurement processes, attendance tracking and compliance with donor requirements.
• Manage access letters, movement authorisations, visa applications and residency permits for expatriate staff.
• Maintain records of permits, visas and official correspondence, and support legal and administrative clearances.

Required profile

• University degree in International Development, Social Sciences, Economics, Business Administration or related field.
• Minimum 4 years of experience in project support, coordination or implementation, preferably in multi‑location, donor‑funded projects.
• Experience working with international NGOs and strong knowledge of Iraqi administrative procedures and relationships with local authorities.
• Good understanding of monitoring, evaluation and reporting systems.
