Lead Process Engineer

About the role

KBR is seeking a Lead Process Engineer to own the technical integrity and delivery of process engineering scope for oil and gas field developments in Basra. The role covers all project stages—from conceptual studies to detailed engineering—across upstream, gas treating, and downstream processing in both greenfield and brownfield environments.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the preparation and review of process simulations, optimization studies, and process flow schemes with heat and mass balances, equipment sizing, and layout.
• Own detailed process engineering deliverables (PFDs, P&IDs, equipment datasheets, study reports) ensuring compliance with international standards.
• Review third‑party design work, participate in HAZID, HAZOP, SIL and other hazard analyses, and drive issue resolution.
• Act as the primary technical interface with clients, communicating complex concepts clearly.
• Mentor and develop Iraqi national staff, providing on‑the‑job training and performance feedback.
• Ensure adherence to quality and safety systems, leading QA/QC practices within the process discipline.
• Collaborate with other disciplines to manage technical risk and support on‑time, safe project delivery.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading process engineering teams on oil and gas projects.
• Strong ability to communicate technical information to clients and multidisciplinary teams.
• Commitment to mentoring and developing local staff.
• Familiarity with international engineering standards and quality/safety procedures.
