Lead Process Automation Systems Engineer

About the role

Wood is seeking a Lead Process Automation Systems Engineer to drive the design and implementation of automation solutions for a major on‑shore brownfield oil & gas project in Basra, Iraq. This full‑time, on‑site position works on a 6/1 schedule and includes travel as required.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the design, specification and deployment of process control and safety instrumented systems.
• Define control strategies, alarm philosophies and automation standards for the project.
• Ensure compliance with IEC 61131‑3 and IEC 61511 standards.
• Act as the technical authority for PCS, SIS, alarm management and historian systems.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate automation solutions into the overall plant architecture.

Required profile

• Proven senior‑level experience in process automation for oil & gas or similar industrial projects.
• Demonstrated ability to lead technical teams and serve as an automation authority.
• Willingness to work on‑site in Basra with occasional travel.
