Financial Controller – Construction Projects

About the role

DRIDRI, Inc. is a growing Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business that delivers federal construction projects. The company is adding its first Controller to act as the financial control tower, overseeing project cost integrity, cash forecasting, and month‑end close while collaborating closely with the Vice President, bookkeeper, and project teams.

Key responsibilities

• Drive the monthly close calendar, post accruals, and deliver clean P&L, balance sheet, and job‑cost reports on schedule.
• Maintain weekly job‑cost reports for all active contracts, compare actuals to budgets, investigate variances, and flag unapproved change orders.
• Manage the open change‑order log, ensuring every contract modification is reflected in values, billings, and budgets.
• Own the progress‑billing calendar, track pay applications through government portals, monitor accounts receivable aging, and enforce Prompt Payment Act timelines.
• Sequence subcontractor payments, keep accounts payable aging reconciled, and update a 12‑month rolling cash‑flow forecast weekly.
• Reconcile QuickBooks Online, the project tracker, and cash forecast to ensure data integrity across contract values, billings, costs, and margins.
• Review and direct the offshore bookkeeper’s transaction coding, bank matching, and project cost tagging, establishing consistent coding standards.

Required profile

• Strong background in financial accounting and month‑end close processes.
• Experience with project‑based cost control, preferably in construction or government contracting.
• Ability to analyze variances, identify unapproved expenditures, and recommend corrective actions.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to work independently while coordinating with multiple stakeholders.
