Fiber Network Planning Expert

About the role

The Fiber Network Planning Expert will lead the design, optimization and expansion of our fiber infrastructure in Sulaymaniyah. You will work closely with cross‑functional teams to ensure robust network planning, accurate capacity forecasting and seamless integration of new technologies.

Key responsibilities

• Develop high‑level and detailed low‑level network plans for transport and active fiber networks.
• Design fiber technologies such as SDH, DWDM, OTN and Layer‑2/Layer‑3 IP Metro, including FTTx solutions.
• Create OSP designs (buried, duct‑buried, aerial) and generate GIS files using Google Earth, AutoCAD and MapInfo.
• Produce ODF layouts, fiber core assignments, capacity plans and yearly node requirement forecasts.
• Ensure compliance with OSP civil‑work standards (trenching, ducts, manholes, ODFs).
• Manage active and passive element capacity, submit change requests and support network shuffling activities.
• Report network evolution, road‑maps and performance metrics to management.
• Coordinate with local ISPs on leased lines, audit usage and drive OPEX reduction.
• Facilitate knowledge sharing and continuous technical improvement within the team.

Required profile

• Minimum 8 years of experience in telecom, specifically fiber transmission.
• Advanced knowledge of SDH, DWDM, OTN, Layer‑2/Layer‑3 IP Metro and FTTx.
• Strong expertise in OSP network design (buried, duct‑buried, aerial) and related civil standards.
• Proficiency with MS Office (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Project) and planning tools such as MapInfo and Google Earth.
• Hands‑on experience with EMS, NMS and network design software.
• Demonstrated behavioral competencies: results orientation, customer focus, networking, influencing, team leadership and change management.
