Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) Engineer

About the role

The Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) Engineer will be based on‑site in Basra, Iraq, supervising and executing electrical and instrumentation installation works for an EPC oil & gas construction project. The role ensures safe, compliant delivery in line with approved drawings, specifications, international standards and HSE requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and execute all electrical installation activities, including MV/LV systems, transformers, switchgear, MCCs, distribution panels, UPS systems and related power infrastructure.
• Monitor cable tray installation, cable pulling, glanding, termination and testing, ensuring compliance with method statements, ITPs and international standards.
• Ensure proper installation of earthing, grounding, lightning protection and Ex‑rated equipment in hazardous areas.
• Supervise field instrumentation installation – pressure, temperature, flow, level transmitters, control valves, analyzers, junction boxes and marshalling cabinets.
• Oversee instrument tubing, impulse line installation, supports, tagging and identification.
• Support loop checking, calibration, pre‑commissioning and commissioning activities in coordination with the commissioning team.
• Review technical documents (SLDs, wiring diagrams, hook‑up drawings, cable schedules) to guarantee accurate site execution.
• Coordinate with construction, QA/QC, engineering and subcontractors to resolve technical issues and maintain schedule.
• Participate in inspections, raise RFIs, support punch‑list clearance and maintain as‑built records.
• Enforce HSE policies, conduct risk assessments and ensure safe work in live plant or hazardous areas.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering or Instrumentation & Control Engineering.
• 7–10 years of experience in electrical and instrumentation installation on EPC oil & gas projects.
• Proven ability to work on‑site, supervise multidisciplinary teams and liaise with client representatives.
