Electrical Engineer Inspector

About the role

The Electrical Engineer Inspector will provide technical supervision and inspection for the construction of 132 kV overhead transmission line (OHTL) projects, ensuring full compliance with approved IFC documents and Ministry of Electricity specifications. The role combines field supervision, quality and HSE leadership, and detailed reporting to support successful project delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise all 132 kV OHTL construction activities, including foundations, tower erection, earthing, conductor/OPGW stringing, concrete works, and mechanical protections.
• Verify conformance against IFC drawings, BoQs, method statements, ITPs, WIRs, and MoE specifications.
• Review and accept material submittals, vendor certificates, and ensure compliance before installation.
• Coordinate daily with EPC contractor, Owner’s Engineer, client representatives, and HSE/QA teams.
• Issue weekly progress reports with photos, quantities, earned progress, risk logs, and look‑ahead plans.
• Sign off site milestones, raise and close NCRs, and enforce PTW/LOTO, JSA/HIRA, and safety rules.
• Witness testing and inspections such as sag & tension, earthing resistance, and support FAT/SAT activities.
• Manage interface with associated 132 kV substations, including outage planning and tie‑in activities.
• Maintain inspection logs, manpower/equipment records, and prepare punch lists for PAC/initial acceptance.

Required profile

• B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering (Mechanical accepted with proven OHTL experience).
• 8+ years of construction and inspection experience on 132 kV (or higher) overhead transmission lines.
• Experience in 132 kV substation construction is desirable.
• Proven track record in the Middle East, preferably Iraq.
• Fluent English (spoken and written); Arabic preferred.

Required skills

• Technical drawing reading and AutoCAD.
• Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Familiarity with MS Project or Primavera.
• Basic GIS/Google Earth for line routing.
• Knowledge of Iraqi MoE specifications, IEC/IEEE standards, and ACI/ASTM concrete codes.
