Disposal Operator

About the role

The Disposal Operator will work at the Amentum Baghdad Embassy Compound supporting the Base Life Support Services contract for the U.S. State Department. Reporting to the Disposal Yard Manager, the role focuses on safe handling, processing, and disposal of excess equipment and materials while maintaining strict environmental and safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain a safe workplace and comply with all Environmental Health & Safety and Quality Assurance requirements.
• Update and ensure accuracy of the equipment inventory database and process all inventory transactions.
• Coordinate equipment transfers, process excess documentation, and handle both controlled and non‑controlled materials.
• Conduct daily inspections of assigned equipment, reporting defects or maintenance needs immediately.
• Assist with scrap metal processing, recycling, and contingency waste removal during emergencies or special events.
• Support a broad range of direct and indirect activities involving customer‑owned equipment.

Required profile

• Minimum 4 years of experience in waste management, sanitation, logistics, construction support, or material handling.
• Proven experience in property disposal operations, preferably with Defense Reutilization experience.
• Ability to operate or quickly learn disposal collection and material handling equipment.
• Strong organizational, time‑management, and cross‑cultural communication skills.

Required skills

• Operation of 30K Forklift, extended‑reach Forklift, material handler, grappler (excavator), front‑end loader, and material shredder.
• Use of cutting torches, including plasma cutters.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
