Data Center Engineer – Backup Power & Infrastructure

About the role

The Data Center Engineer is responsible for installing, maintaining, and managing backup power and infrastructure systems in a data‑center environment. This includes generators, UPS, cooling, networking, fiber optics, fire detection, and related instrumentation to ensure uninterrupted service.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise electrical and instrumentation technicians, perform troubleshooting, and ensure wiring complies with safety standards.
• Oversee construction and installation of power, cooling, cable trays, fire and gas systems, and network equipment.
• Conduct daily reporting on activities such as fiber cuts, rack installations, inverter and UPS commissioning.
• Perform generator health checks, manage UPS configuration, and ensure all backup power equipment is operational.
• Coordinate with third‑party vendors and internal teams to meet data‑center standards and service level agreements.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
• 3–5 years of experience with generator maintenance, power systems, or data‑center operations.
• Proficiency in English language communication.

Required skills

• Diesel generators, Automatic Transfer Switch (ATS) and UPS systems.
• Backup power system design, installation and testing.
• Network devices, fiber optics, cooling systems and fire detection equipment.
• Instrumentation, PLC, DB/MDB installation and grounding/earthing.
• Test planning, test case design, test execution and test automation (including regression testing).
