About the role
KBR is seeking an experienced Site Electrical Supervisor to oversee electrical construction, installation, testing and pre‑commissioning activities at its Basra, Iraq site. The role ensures safe, compliant, high‑quality execution while coordinating with multiple disciplines to keep the project on schedule.
Key responsibilities
- Supervise daily electrical works for HV, MV and LV equipment, including transformers, switchgear, MCCs, generators, UPS, DC systems, cables, lighting and earthing.
- Verify equipment placement, supports and installations against approved drawings and vendor requirements.
- Monitor cable routing, tray installation, glanding, termination, labeling and fire‑stopping to meet project specs.
- Ensure compliance with method statements, ITPs, international standards and KBR HSE requirements.
- Inspect installations, witness testing (insulation, continuity, protection relays, functional checks) and manage punch‑list closure.
- Track contractor manpower, productivity and quality; report progress, constraints and safety observations.
- Coordinate electrical interfaces with civil, mechanical, instrumentation, telecom, HVAC and package vendors.
- Support mechanical completion, energisation readiness, commissioning and handover of systems.
Required profile
- 10+ years of electrical construction and site supervision on large EPC/EPSCC projects in oil & gas, power generation or water treatment.
- Hands‑on experience with HV/MV/LV systems, transformers, switchgear, MCCs, UPS, DC systems, power & control cables, earthing and lighting.
- Previous experience as a Site Electrical Supervisor or similar on major projects, preferably in the Middle East.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering preferred; technical diploma acceptable with substantial experience.
- Fluent English; Arabic knowledge is an advantage.
Required skills
- Electrical construction methods and installation practices for HV/MV/LV equipment.
- Reading and interpreting single‑line diagrams, schematics, wiring diagrams, cable schedules and AFC drawings.
- Testing and commissioning procedures, including insulation resistance, continuity, earthing resistance and protection relay tests.
- Knowledge of IEC, IEEE, NFPA, ISO and project‑specific standards.
- Use of ITP, RFI, NCR, punch‑list and mechanical completion documentation.
- Strong contractor‑management and site‑planning capabilities.
