Senior Accounting & Tax Lead

About the role

As Senior Accounting & Tax Lead you will be the go‑to person for all accounting and tax matters in the Iraq affiliate, ensuring accurate books, timely closes, settled taxes and well‑managed cash to support business confidence.

Key responsibilities

• Own the close and controls, ensuring each period is closed on time with accurate books and managing payables and receivables.
• Lead audits and tax compliance, acting as main contact for auditors and local tax advisors, settling sales contract tax and processing tax payments.
• Process invoices, payroll, expenses, distributor fees and reconcile vendor and employee accounts.
• Forecast cash flow, manage bank accounts, monthly reconciliations, guarantees and corporate credit cards.
• Review third‑party due diligence, assign risk scores and lead periodic re‑assessments.
• Train colleagues on finance processes, SOPs and systems, and support expense claim alignment.
• Represent local requirements in CoE standardisation projects, move suitable tasks to GBS and explore automation.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent with 5+ years of accounting or finance experience.
• Strong understanding of complex financial information, attention to detail and logical approach.
• Knowledge of Iraqi tax and statutory requirements.
• Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment, manage multiple deadlines and act as a proactive self‑starter.
• Professional proficiency in English.

Required skills

• Experience with shared service teams or third‑party due diligence processes (useful but not essential).
• International certifications such as ACCA, CPA, ACA (useful but not essential).
