PSS and Community Development Unit Manager

About the role

SEED is seeking a dynamic manager to lead its Psychosocial Support (PSS) and Community Development (CD) unit in Erbil. The role focuses on designing and implementing community‑based programmes that promote mental health, gender equality, child protection and social cohesion across the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the PSS/CD unit, overseeing technical leads and programme implementation across multiple locations.
• Design, adapt and manage community‑driven interventions that foster emotional well‑being, prevent violence and discrimination, and support economic empowerment.
• Coordinate closely with the MEAL unit to ensure community participation from planning through evaluation and to integrate feedback into future programming.
• Manage PSS resources, budgets and staff capacity‑building activities.
• Ensure alignment of programmes with SEED’s strategic objectives on gender equality, GBV prevention, child protection and mental health.
• Travel regularly within the Kurdistan Region to monitor activities, support field teams and engage stakeholders.

Required profile

• Proven experience in psychosocial support and community development, preferably in humanitarian or NGO settings.
• Strong leadership and team‑management skills with a track record of building staff capacity.
• Deep understanding of gender equality, GBV prevention, child protection and mental health interventions.
• Ability to design community‑driven programmes and integrate monitoring and evaluation findings.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills for working with diverse partners and beneficiaries.
