Presales Engineer – Software Projects (Mid to Senior)

About the role

Own presales execution for software project opportunities from client visits through technical proposal submission, reducing reliance on a single point of contact and enabling DTC to respond to a higher volume of tenders with consistent technical quality.

Key responsibilities

• Attend client visits and gather initial context and requirements for new opportunities.
• Prepare client visit reports summarizing findings, needs, and next steps.
• Draft technical proposals and RFP responses for software project tenders.
• Coordinate with Product Owners, System Analysts and Engineering to validate technical feasibility, scope, and estimates.
• Support commercial/financial proposal preparation with technical input where required.
• Maintain a library of reusable proposal content, technical templates, and past submissions.
• Track presales pipeline status in ClickUp and hand off won opportunities to the assigned Coordinator.
• Represent DTC technically in early‑stage client meetings and follow‑up communication.
• Conduct technical discovery sessions to identify client requirements, pain points, and business objectives.
• Translate client requirements into high‑level technical solutions and proposed architectures.
• Prepare solution presentations, technical demonstrations, and Proof of Concepts (PoCs) when required.
• Analyze RFPs, RFQs, and tender documents to identify technical requirements, compliance criteria, and deliverables.
• Develop technical Bill of Materials (BoM), effort estimates, resource requirements, and implementation assumptions.
• Prepare technical scope of work, solution descriptions, methodologies, and implementation approaches.
• Identify technical risks, dependencies, assumptions, and potential gaps during the presales process.
• Collaborate with Engineering teams to evaluate technologies, integrations, APIs, infrastructure, and third‑party solutions.
• Respond to client technical queries and provide clarifications throughout the tender and proposal process.
• Participate in solution review meetings and ensure proposed solutions align with client requirements and DTC capabilities.
• Support negotiations and clarification meetings by providing technical explanations and alternatives.
• Conduct competitor and technology research to support solution positioning and proposal development.
• Ensure technical proposals comply with RFP requirements, specifications, and submission guidelines.
• Support the transition from presales to project delivery by providing complete technical documentation and knowledge transfer.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• 3–6 years of experience in software project presales, business analysis, or technical consulting.
• Proven experience writing technical proposals or RFP responses (government sector a plus).
• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum‑delivered software projects.
