Operations Manager

About the role

The Operations Manager will be stationed at one of Amentum's three sites in Iraq, supporting the Operations and Maintenance Support Services (OMSS) contract for the U.S. Department of State. Reporting to the OMSS Program Manager, you will own all site operational responsibilities, ensuring safe, efficient, and contract‑compliant performance.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain a safe workplace and enforce all Environmental Health & Safety and Quality Assurance requirements.
• Act as the principal operations representative for the Program Manager.
• Manage all Operations & Maintenance (O&M) functions, including staffing, planning, coordination, and execution.
• Monitor system readiness, identify issues, and respond to mission‑critical requirements.
• Direct the preventive maintenance program, process work orders, projects, and large‑task assignments.
• Control resources, track staff qualifications and endurance, and coordinate information flow among O&M personnel.
• Perform additional duties and projects as assigned.

Required profile

• Minimum 10 years of O&M experience in a small plant, overseas, or military facility.
• Proven ability to manage staff and operate in a fast‑paced, multi‑task environment.
• Cross‑cultural sensitivity with an international perspective.
• Excellent organizational, time‑management, and communication skills.
• High school diploma or GED; Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Political Science, or related field preferred.
