Instrument & Controls Lead Engineer

About the role

The Instrument & Controls Lead Engineer will support site operations by providing front‑line I&C expertise, resolving minor issues, and escalating larger problems to the central engineering team. This position reports to the Area Engineering Support Team Lead and will supervise a team of I&C Engineers.

Key responsibilities

• Optimize day‑to‑day I&C system performance, including loop tuning, alarm management and SIS monitoring.
• Identify production vulnerabilities and optimisation opportunities to support forecasted output and increase installed production capacity.
• Ensure control systems operate within design envelopes; report deviations and manage risks through operational risk assessments.
• Lead or support root‑cause investigations (e.g., 5 Whys, fault‑tree analysis) for safety incidents, production losses or quality issues.
• Prioritise I&C vulnerabilities based on risk and production impact and drive corrective actions.
• Champion continuous‑improvement projects involving instrumentation, automation and control systems.

Required profile

• Minimum 10 years of experience in the oil & gas industry, preferably with an IOC or contractor.
• Technical engineering degree or equivalent qualification.
• Previous experience in asset or operations engineering with exposure to production facilities.
• Strong communication, interpersonal and coaching abilities.
• Proactive mindset with a results‑driven approach.
