HSE Supervisor – Onsite (CSSP)

About the role

The HSE Supervisor will be based in Basra, Iraq and is responsible for implementing health, safety and environmental requirements during site execution, ensuring compliance with project specifications, local regulations and KBR standards.

Key responsibilities

• Produce and maintain daily, weekly and monthly HSE reports and KPIs.
• Monitor site activities to ensure compliance with HSE procedures, method statements and risk assessments.
• Conduct routine inspections, audits and safety tours across civil, mechanical, piping, electrical, lifting and marine work areas.
• Manage the Permit to Work system, including isolation verification, SIMOPS and high‑risk activities.
• Supervise critical tasks such as lifting operations, confined‑space entry, work at height, excavation and hot work.
• Lead toolbox talks, safety briefings and promote hazard awareness.
• Investigate incidents, near‑misses and unsafe conditions, support root‑cause analysis and follow‑up corrective actions.
• Ensure environmental compliance, waste management and spill prevention.

Required profile

• Minimum 8 years of HSE supervision experience on large EPC/EPSCC projects in oil & gas, infrastructure or industrial plants.
• Proven experience in site‑based construction environments with high‑risk operations.
• Previous role as HSE Supervisor or equivalent on major projects.
• Experience on Middle‑East projects or remote sites is an advantage.
• Fluent English; NEBOSH (IGC) or NEBOSH Oil & Gas certification; IOSH Level 3 and Managing Safely certificates.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 standards.
• Understanding of OSHA principles and Permit‑to‑Work systems.
• Competence in risk assessments (JSA/JHA) and incident investigation.
• Familiarity with SIMOPS coordination.
• Environmental management practices for construction projects.
