Drilling Engineer

About the role

Geo-Jade Petroleum is looking for an experienced Drilling Engineer to join the South Basra Integrated Project (SBIPRO) in Basra, Iraq. The role provides real‑time operational support, monitors drilling parameters and prepares daily reports while working closely with rig crews and senior engineers.

Key responsibilities

• Support coordination with the subsurface team on SOR development and subsurface requirements.
• Participate in well‑paper exercises, risk register management and materials forecasting.
• Prepare bid documents, evaluate technical and financial proposals, and manage contracts for drilling services, materials and equipment.
• Collaborate with turnkey service providers on product line program development.
• Assist in bit selection, optimization and delivery of safe, environmentally sound drilling solutions.
• Produce end‑of‑well reports, including bit records, lessons learned, NPT analysis and optimization recommendations.
• Monitor daily drilling activities, provide technical support to on‑shore teams and ensure compliance with HSE, quality and regulatory standards.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum Engineering, Drilling Engineering or a related technical discipline.
• Minimum 3‑5 years of experience in drilling engineering or operations, with solid knowledge of drilling design, engineering and planning.
• Familiarity with drilling contracts, turnkey/bundled services (drilling fluid, cementing, TRS, liner hangers, fishing).
• Strong time‑management skills and ability to meet work‑plan deadlines.
• Effective team player with good communication skills.
