Drilling Engineer – Iraqi Candidate

About the role

Geo-Jade Petroleum is seeking an experienced Iraqi Drilling Engineer to join the South Basra Integrated Project (SBIPRO) team in Basra. The role supports daily drilling operations, ensures smooth well execution, and contributes to technical expertise through hands‑on involvement.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Wells Department with day‑to‑day drilling operations and engineering tasks.
• Coordinate with the subsurface team on SOR development and subsurface requirements.
• Participate in well‑paper exercises, risk register development, and materials forecasting for the assigned area.
• Prepare bid documents, evaluate technical and financial proposals, and manage contracts for drilling services, materials, and equipment.
• Support turnkey service providers in product line program development.
• Select and optimise drilling bits in collaboration with directional drillers.
• Deliver safe, environmentally sound drilling engineering solutions and ensure compliance with HSE principles.
• Produce end‑of‑well reports, including bit records, lessons learned, NPT analysis and optimisation recommendations.
• Monitor daily drilling activities, provide technical support to on‑shore teams, and ensure regulatory adherence for permits and barrier verifications.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum Engineering, Drilling Engineering or a related technical discipline.
• Fluent in English (verbal and written) for technical reporting.
• Iraqi national.
• 3‑5 years of solid experience in drilling engineering or operations.
