Director of Engineering

About the role

Rixos Baghdad is looking for a strategic, results‑driven Director of Engineering to join the Executive Committee. The role oversees all building systems, drives sustainability, manages budgets, and ensures safety and regulatory compliance across the property.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the engineering team, fostering a culture of excellence, safety and operational efficiency.
• Oversee operation and performance of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical and refrigeration systems, ensuring peak performance and minimal downtime.
• Develop, manage and control the engineering department’s budget, identifying cost‑optimization opportunities.
• Implement energy‑efficient and green initiatives to support long‑term sustainability goals.
• Plan, execute and deliver large‑scale projects such as system upgrades, capital improvements, renovations and new installations within agreed timelines and budgets.
• Ensure compliance with local, state and federal health, safety and regulatory standards.

• Strategic and results‑driven leadership style.
• Proven experience managing large engineering teams in a hospitality environment.
• Strong financial acumen with experience budgeting and cost control.
• Knowledge of local safety and regulatory requirements.
