Communications Manager – Basra, Iraq

About the role

The Communications Manager will lead all project‑related communications and information systems for the Security Command & Control Centre in Basra. The role ensures that all communications equipment complies with Iraqi government, client and CR directives while supporting day‑to‑day operations.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, execute and maintain the communications strategy (SOP) and manage the operations communications team.
• Oversee the Tetra client communication system and act as liaison with IT, ROOHSE Land Transport and GIS departments.
• Plan, organise and supervise installation, modification and testing of telecommunications systems, including new sites and buildings.
• Coordinate contractor technicians, conduct field installations, repairs and emergency call‑outs, and ensure equipment reliability.
• Prepare tender information, analyse and troubleshoot communication systems to sustain mobile and static operations.

Required profile

• Minimum 8 years cumulative military/police service or equivalent security and risk‑management experience.
• At least 3 years experience working in Iraq for a MOI‑registered PSC and 3 years communications‑management experience.
• Demonstrated competence in technical telecommunications roles and equipment‑management programmes.
• Native English speaker with an IOSH HSE certificate.
