Accounting Manager

About the role

A leading diversified business group based in Baghdad, with operations in real estate, construction, hospitality, retail, travel, agriculture and more, is expanding and is looking for an experienced Accounting Manager. The role oversees accounting activities, financial reporting, controls and compliance, working closely with senior management, finance leadership, auditors and business units.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the day-to-day accounting function, including accounts payable/receivable, general ledger, bank reconciliations and fixed assets, and ensure timely month-end and year-end closing
• Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports, management accounts and financial analysis, with variance analysis
• Manage accounting across multiple group entities, including intercompany accounting, reconciliations and consolidation
• Support annual budgeting and forecasting, monitor performance against budgets and strengthen financial controls
• Coordinate with internal and external auditors, prepare audit schedules and ensure compliance with Iraqi tax, accounting and statutory requirements
• Monitor cash positions, prepare cash flow forecasts and manage working capital
• Lead and develop the accounting team, set procedures and train staff

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field
• 7-10+ years of relevant accounting experience, including at least 3 years in a managerial or supervisory accounting role
• Experience managing multiple entities and intercompany transactions is highly preferred; experience in Iraq or the wider Middle East is strongly preferred
• Fluency in English and Arabic is preferred
