Accounting Manager – Energy Sector (Kurdistan, Iraq)

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Accounting Manager to join an energy development company operating in power generation and distribution across Kurdistan, Iraq. This full‑time, onsite position will lead the finance function and ensure accurate reporting in line with international standards.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee all accounting operations including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, and financial reporting.
• Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with IFRS/GAAP.
• Manage budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis to support business decision‑making.
• Monitor cash flow, capital expenditures, and cost allocations across exploration, production, and distribution activities.
• Coordinate external audits and liaise with auditors, regulators, and stakeholders.
• Analyze financial performance, providing insights on profitability, cost optimisation, and risk management.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing accounting functions and preparing financial statements under IFRS/GAAP.
• Strong understanding of budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis.
• Ability to work collaboratively with auditors, regulators and internal stakeholders.
