Accountant

About the role

Walletii, a fast‑growing fintech startup in Iraq, is seeking an Accountant to oversee daily accounting operations and support its ambitious growth plans. The role involves managing financial records, ensuring compliance, and collaborating with auditors and external partners.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain accounting policies and ensure compliance with company DRM.
• Handle daily financial activities: expense recording, e‑money reconciliation, payroll, bank and petty‑cash reconciliations, vendor/customer and tax reconciliations.
• Lead ERP implementation and automation of bank‑company settlements.
• Develop DTR from the mobile money platform and approve cash and inventory counts.
• Participate in monthly closing, prepare monthly/quarterly reports, and support annual operating plans and forecasts.
• Communicate with auditors, tax authorities, banks, and the parent company.

Required profile

• BSc in Accounting, Business, Finance or related field.
• 5‑6 years of accounting and reporting experience, preferably in fintech or financial services.
• Professional certification such as CA or ACCA strongly preferred.
• Fluent in English and Arabic; Kurdish is a plus.

Required skills

• Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., SAP, QuickBooks).
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Experience with ERP implementation and related modules.
