Costing Accountant

About the role

The Costing Accountant will work full‑time on‑site in Baghdad, preparing and analysing cost records for the company’s products and services. You will collaborate with operations, procurement and finance teams to support budgeting, forecasting and cost optimisation.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare, analyse and maintain cost records for material, labour and overhead expenses.
• Develop and update costing models, review purchase and production data, and reconcile variances between standard and actual costs.
• Provide cost analysis, support budgeting and forecasting, and recommend cost optimisation opportunities.
• Prepare regular cost reports, ensure compliance with internal controls and support audits and management reviews.

Required profile

• Strong foundation in cost accounting, management accounting and general accounting principles.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field; professional certifications (e.g., CMA) are an advantage.
• Experience in manufacturing, scientific or industrial environments in Iraq or similar markets is preferred.
• Understanding of local regulatory and tax requirements related to costing and financial reporting.

Required skills

• Proficiency with spreadsheets.
• Experience using accounting software.
• Comfort working with large data sets, cost models and ERP or inventory management systems.
