Process Engineer – Sour Gas Processing (Expat)

About the role

AntonAnton Oilfield Services Group is seeking an experienced Process Engineer to lead the design and execution of sour gas processing facilities in Basra, Iraq. The role is an expatriate position with a 28‑day on / 28‑day off rotation schedule, supporting the full project lifecycle from concept to commissioning.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the process design of sour gas treatment plants, covering conceptual, basic, and detailed engineering phases.
• Develop and review PFDs, P&IDs, process descriptions, and design basis documents.
• Perform process simulations and heat/material balance calculations using Aspen HYSYS.
• Design and optimise amine sweetening, dehydration, SRU, TGTU and SWS units.
• Prepare datasheets, specifications, and procurement documents for process equipment.
• Provide technical support to multidisciplinary teams (mechanical, piping, instrumentation, electrical, civil).
• Participate in HAZOP, LOPA and other safety studies to mitigate process risks.
• Support construction, commissioning and start‑up activities, resolving engineering issues and managing design changes.
• Ensure compliance with API, ASME, ISO standards and project specifications.
• Coordinate with clients, contractors and stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Chemical, Process, Oil & Gas Engineering or a related discipline.
• Proven EPC experience on sour natural gas processing projects throughout the full project lifecycle.
• Strong knowledge of sour gas treatment technologies (amine sweetening, dehydration, SRU, TGTU, SWS).
• Fluent English communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Willingness to work on a 28/28 rotation schedule in Basra, Iraq.
