Operations Manager

About the role

The Operations Manager will be based at one of Amentum’s sites in Iraq, supporting the Operations and Maintenance Support Services (OMSS) contract for the U.S. Department of State. Reporting to the OMSS Program Manager, you will own all site operational responsibilities and ensure safe, efficient delivery of contract requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain a safe workplace and ensure compliance with Environmental Health & Safety and Quality Assurance standards.
• Act as the principal operations representative for the Program Manager.
• Manage all Operations & Maintenance (O&M) functions, including staffing, planning, coordination, and performance monitoring.
• Oversee preventive maintenance programs, process work orders, projects, and large task assignments.
• Monitor system readiness, identify issues, and coordinate resources to meet mission requirements.
• Control resources, track staff proficiency, endurance, and asset locations.
• Facilitate information flow between O&M staff and supporting elements.
• Perform additional duties and projects as assigned.

Required profile

• Minimum 10 years of O&M experience in a small plant, overseas, or military facility.
• Proven ability to manage staff and operate in a fast‑paced, multi‑task environment.
• Cross‑cultural sensitivity and an international perspective.
• Excellent organizational, time‑management, and communication skills.
• Ability to innovate and drive change.
