Head of Large Groceries & Modern Trade

About the role

We are seeking a dynamic leader to drive profitable growth across Large Grocery and Modern Trade channels in Iraq. The role will oversee a high‑performance Beverages & Snacks sales team, build strategic partnerships, and ensure commercial excellence.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute Joint Business Plans (JBPs) with key Large Grocery and Modern Trade partners, ensuring in‑store execution, product mix and activation.
• Own the channel P&L, delivering net sales revenue (NSR), volume, market share and profitability against the annual operating plan.
• Lead annual trading term negotiations, pricing and promotional investment frameworks.
• Drive category management initiatives to grow categories, improve shelf‑share and achieve perfect‑store standards.
• Coach, mentor and develop Key Account Managers and field sales executives to exceed targets.
• Identify and onboard new customers, expanding geographic footprint.
• Collaborate with Supply Chain, Finance and Marketing on demand planning, launches and promotions.
• Monitor competitor activity, retail landscape shifts and shopper trends to inform strategy.

Required profile

• Minimum 10 years FMCG/Beverages & Snacks experience with multi‑layer team leadership.
• At least 5 years managing Large Format / Modern Trade accounts with full P&L responsibility.
• Proven track record of delivering growth in high‑growth regional markets.
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing or related field; MBA or postgraduate qualification preferred.
• Fluent Arabic (native) and English.
• Willingness to relocate without family; flexible mobility.
