Solar Design Engineer

About the role

We are looking for a Solar Design Engineer to join our technical team at Al Safi Group HQ in Baghdad. The role involves creating detailed solar PV system designs, conducting site assessments, and supporting installation and commissioning activities.

Key responsibilities

• Design and prepare solar PV system layouts using PVsyst, Helioscope and AutoCAD.
• Conduct site assessments to evaluate feasibility, energy production and system performance.
• Produce engineering drawings, including single‑line diagrams, wiring layouts and mounting structures.
• Perform technical calculations such as PV system sizing, inverter sizing, cable sizing, voltage drop and shadow analysis.
• Prepare bills of quantities, material submittals and coordinate with suppliers for component selection.
• Supervise on‑site installation, ensure compliance with designs and conduct testing and commissioning.
• Prepare technical reports, feasibility studies, cost‑benefit analyses and performance monitoring reports.
• Provide technical support to sales, procurement and site teams while ensuring adherence to NEC/IEC standards.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• 2–4 years of experience in solar PV system design and implementation.
• Strong knowledge of on‑grid, off‑grid and hybrid solar systems and modern battery technologies.
• Experience preparing technical offers and proposals.
