Senior Project Engineer (Power)

About the role

kbr is hiring a Senior Project Engineer (Power) in Basra. The engineer is responsible for design, specification, selection and services of mechanical equipment such as rotating machinery, pressure vessels, atmospheric storage tanks, fired and unfired heat transfer equipment, utility equipment, packaged units, material handling and solids processing systems, and possibly building mechanical systems such as gases, fluids, HVAC and vertical transportation. The role works under general supervision and may involve leading a functional area on a small project or a segment of a larger project.

Key responsibilities

• Design, specify and select mechanical equipment and systems, and provide related services.
• Plan, schedule and carry out work requiring judgment in evaluating, selecting and adapting engineering techniques, procedures and criteria.
• Handle complex cases such as conflicting design requirements, unsuitable conventional materials and difficult coordination.
• Provide technical guidance to designers and less experienced engineers.
• When acting as lead, plan, budget, organise, coordinate and control the project, and appraise and coach lower-level professionals.

Required profile

• Undergraduate degree in Engineering and at least 4 years of related experience, typically 6-10 years.
• Sufficient professional experience to act as a fully trained professional.
• Broad knowledge of precedents; certification as a Licensed/Chartered Professional Engineer is preferred.
