Senior Cost Control Engineer

About the role

The Senior Cost Control Engineer will lead the planning, monitoring and control of project costs throughout the lifecycle of civil and construction projects. This role ensures accurate budgeting, forecasting and financial reporting while supporting project teams to meet cost, schedule and commercial targets.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain project budgets, cost plans and cash‑flow forecasts.
• Monitor costs, commitments and expenditures against approved budgets.
• Prepare cost reports, forecasts, variance analysis and management dashboards.
• Evaluate cost impacts of design changes, variations and claims.
• Review subcontractor and supplier payment applications and cost allocations.
• Support tendering, estimating and budget preparation for new projects.
• Coordinate with project managers, planning engineers, procurement and commercial teams to ensure cost efficiency.
• Analyze project productivity, resource utilization and cost performance indicators.
• Identify cost risks and recommend mitigation strategies.
• Ensure compliance with contractual requirements, company procedures and financial controls.
• Support project close‑out, final accounts and lessons‑learned documentation.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Engineering.
• 8+ years of cost control experience in civil or construction projects.
• Strong knowledge of budgeting, forecasting, earned value management (EVM) and cost reporting.
• Experience with contracts, variations, claims and commercial management.
• Excellent analytical, reporting and communication skills.
• Preferred: experience on large‑scale infrastructure, commercial, industrial or mixed‑use projects; professional certifications such as PMP, CCP or MRICS; familiarity with FIDIC contracts and project‑controls best practices.
