Medical Laboratory Technician – Iraq

About the role

International SOS is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technician to deliver comprehensive laboratory services for Department of State, Department of Defense, and contractor personnel stationed in Iraq. The role is a locum rotation (30 days active, 120 days inactive) and involves performing a wide range of diagnostic tests on various biological samples.

Key responsibilities

• Collect and process biological specimens for laboratory testing.
• Conduct routine and specialized tests in hematology, microbiology, clinical chemistry, and blood banking.
• Maintain and troubleshoot laboratory equipment.
• Adhere to safety protocols and keep the laboratory environment clean.
• Record and report test results accurately and promptly.
• Collaborate with pathologists and medical staff to interpret results.
• Participate in mass‑casualty exercises and related training.
• Complete required compliance education for Joint Commission and other regulatory bodies.

Required profile

• Experience performing microscopic, bacteriological, hematologic, immunologic, and chemical analyses on tissue, blood, urine, stool, synovial fluid, and semen.
• Ability to work in a high‑stress, austere environment and follow strict procedural guidelines.
• Willingness to engage in a locum rotation schedule.
