HVAC/R Supervisor – Iraq

About the role

Amentum is recruiting an HVAC/R Supervisor for one of three of its sites in Iraq, supporting the Operations and Maintenance Support Services (OMSS) contract for the U.S. Department of State. The supervisor oversees all site HVAC/R operations, including maintenance, repair and installation of environmental control systems, and reports directly to the O&M Manager. The role involves practical knowledge of refrigeration theory, pipefitting, system layout and troubleshooting.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain a safe workplace and comply with EHS, quality assurance and applicable standards requirements
• Operate, maintain and repair HVAC/R systems such as chillers, direct expansion units, air handling units, filters, ductwork, dampers, fans, chilled water lines, VAV boxes, exhaust systems and ventilation systems for facilities like laundry rooms, kitchens and restrooms
• Schedule personnel, assign tasks, inspect and audit work, and manage tools, equipment and inventory
• Complete reports, give input on policies and procedures, and install compressors, condenser units and air handling equipment to specification
• Work in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple priorities, and work within a diverse workforce

Required profile

• 10 years of HVAC/R experience, including at least 4 years in a supervisory or lead role, or an equivalent combination of training, certifications and hands-on experience
• High school diploma or GED; HVAC vocational training, apprenticeship completion or equivalent experience
• Valid passport with at least 18 months remaining and 8 blank pages, and a valid driver's licence from home of record
• EPA Section 608 certification required; HVAC licensing or certification preferred, and ability to obtain required credentials within 180 days
• Must obtain and maintain a Secret US Government clearance (US citizenship required); satisfactory English and successful medical and dental exams
• Willingness to work in a war zone, extreme desert heat (up to 120-130 F), 6 days a week and 10 hours a day, and to lift and move heavy equipment

Required skills

• Knowledge of U.S. codes and International Mechanical Code (IMC) standards
• Strong understanding of HVAC/R systems, operations and repairs
• Familiarity with supporting contract operations in an overseas environment
• Microsoft Word and Excel
• Desired: previous overseas experience, work in austere environments, and prior Amentum or similar contract experience
