HMI Engineer

About the role

Wood is seeking an experienced HMI Engineer to join its Iraq Business Unit on a full‑time, on‑site basis in Basra. The role focuses on the safe design, implementation, and maintenance of operator interfaces for a major onshore brownfield project, following a 6/1 work schedule.

Key responsibilities

• Design and maintain operator interfaces aligned with human‑factors best practices.
• Configure and develop HMI systems for process control.
• Apply Human Factors Engineering (HFE) principles throughout the design lifecycle.
• Integrate alarm displays into HMI screens.
• Provide operator support and deliver training assistance.

Required profile

• Proven experience in HMI design and configuration.
• Strong knowledge of Human Factors Engineering principles.
• Experience with alarm display integration.
• Ability to support operators and conduct training.
• Willingness to work on‑site in Basra with occasional travel.
