Crane Engineer - Container Terminal

About the role

CCTI, the container terminal operated by CMA CGM Terminals Iraq in Umm Qasr, is looking for a full-time, on-site Crane Engineer. The engineer is responsible for the technical performance, safety and reliability of cranes and related lifting equipment used in terminal operations. The role reports to the Maintenance and Repair Manager and supervises crane maintenance technicians and contractors.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and oversee preventive and corrective maintenance of STS cranes
• Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and control system faults
• Monitor crane performance, reliability and equipment condition
• Lead breakdown responses and carry out root cause analysis of recurring failures
• Ensure compliance with safety procedures, statutory inspections and OEM recommendations
• Manage spare parts inventory, maintenance records and technical documentation
• Supervise maintenance technicians and support external contractors
• Coordinate with operations to minimise equipment downtime
• Take part in incident investigations, technical training and supplier coordination

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Mechatronics Engineering
• At least 5 years of experience in crane or port equipment maintenance
• Proven experience with STS container cranes
• Willingness to work on-site in Umm Qasr, including shifts, weekends and emergencies

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of PLCs, VFDs, electrical systems and hydraulics
• CMMS applications
