CoW Advisor

About the role

The CoW Advisor is responsible for ensuring safe execution of work permits by coordinating risk assessments, energy isolation, and site monitoring. This role works closely with the Performing Authority and site teams to maintain high safety standards on offshore and on‑shore projects.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct detailed discussions with the Performing Authority during planning to identify hazards and verify comprehensive risk assessments are completed.
• Visit the worksite with the Performing Authority to prepare Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment (HITRA) and attend initial permit issuance, toolbox talks, and authorise work start.
• Approve design and implementation of energy isolation measures, confirm positive isolation for hot work and confined space entry, and demonstrate isolation to the Performing Authority.
• Liaise with the station SAEP to review electrical work, ensuring all electrical certificates and risk assessments are in place.
• Maintain the station isolation register, monitor work scopes, and remove or transfer isolation as required.
• Close permits by signing off completed work, ensuring the site is left safe, clean, and that energy isolation is removed.
• Conduct shift handovers to ensure continuity and safety during shift changes.
• Coordinate SIMOPS to avoid conflicts, attend daily permit/SIMOPS meetings, and capture lessons learned for continuous improvement.
