Corporate Legal Counsel

About the role

We are looking for a Corporate Legal Counsel with deep expertise in Iraqi banking law and Central Bank of Iraq (CBI) regulations. The successful candidate will support our fintech operations by providing legal guidance, ensuring regulatory compliance, and drafting key contracts.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure full compliance with CBI regulations, banking laws, AML and data protection rules.
• Monitor legislative updates and advise on licensing, payment services, digital banking and fintech requirements.
• Engage with regulatory bodies to obtain approvals and resolve compliance issues.
• Draft, review and negotiate contracts, NDAs, service agreements and regulatory filings.
• Develop standardized legal templates and support corporate governance.
• Advise on risk mitigation, KYC, AML and financial security protocols.
• Handle legal disputes, regulatory inquiries and banking‑related proceedings.
• Conduct internal training on banking compliance and legal risk management.

Required profile

• LL.B. (LL.M. preferred) and licensed to practice law in Iraq.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in corporate, banking or fintech law.
• Strong knowledge of CBI regulations, Iraqi banking statutes and fintech compliance.
• Proven experience working with regulatory authorities.
• Fluent in Arabic and English, both written and spoken.

• Advanced contract drafting and negotiation abilities.
• Ability to interpret complex regulations and apply them to business operations.
