Control Systems Engineer

About the role

Wood is seeking an experienced Control Systems Engineer to join its Iraq Business Unit on a major on‑shore brownfield project in Basra. The role involves designing, configuring, testing and commissioning control and automation systems for oil and gas facilities, working on a 6/1 shift schedule.

Key responsibilities

• Develop control logic in accordance with IEC 61131‑3 standards.
• Perform system integration testing, including Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT).
• Configure and commission control interfaces such as Modbus, Profibus and HART.
• Support lifecycle maintenance, upgrades and troubleshooting of automation equipment.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless project delivery.

Required profile

• Proven experience in control and automation engineering within the oil & gas sector.
• Ability to work on‑site full‑time in Basra with occasional travel.
• Strong problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.

Required skills

• IEC 61131‑3 programming.
• Modbus communication protocol.
• Profibus communication protocol.
• HART communication protocol.
