Arabic–English Translator / Interpreter

About the role

The Sustainable Research and Development Center seeks an experienced Arabic‑English Translator/Interpreter to support a quantitative and qualitative research project on migration issues in Baghdad and Basra. The role involves translating research instruments and providing interpretation during field activities, ensuring linguistic accuracy and cultural relevance.

Key responsibilities

• Translate quantitative survey questionnaires from English into Arabic.
• Translate qualitative interview guides, protocols and other research tools into Arabic.
• Review translated materials for clarity, consistency and contextual appropriateness.
• Provide on‑site interpretation during interviews, meetings, training sessions or other research activities as needed.
• Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive data with professional discretion.

Required profile

• Fluent in both Arabic and English with proven translation and interpretation experience.
• Familiarity with research terminology, especially in migration, advocacy and social sciences.
• Ability to preserve tone, nuance and technical meaning across languages.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work under tight deadlines.
