Airfield Lighting Technician – Balad (Iraq)

About the role

Versar Global Solutions is seeking an experienced Airfield Lighting Technician to support 24/7 aviation operations at Balad Air Base, Iraq. The role ensures safe, efficient, and compliant airfield lighting and visual navigation aids in a deployed environment.

Key responsibilities

• Inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and replace runway, taxiway, apron, threshold, approach lighting, REILs, PAPI, beacons, and airfield guidance signs.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on Airfield Ground Lighting (AGL) systems following FAA, ICAO, UFC, and contract standards.
• Diagnose and repair faults in Constant Current Regulators, isolation transformers, underground cable circuits, lighting vault equipment, and control systems.
• Conduct electrical testing (Megger, continuity), fault isolation, and certify system readiness.
• Install, modify, upgrade, and commission LED fixtures, regulators, and related infrastructure.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records, inspection logs, work orders, and deficiency reports.
• Coordinate with Airfield Management, Operations, and other stakeholders; respond to outages and emergency calls.

Required profile

• Fluent in spoken, written, and read English.
• Valid driver’s license and passport with at least 12 months validity from start date.
• Ability to meet all medical screening requirements and work in a deployed environment.
• Minimum 5 years of experience maintaining airfield lighting systems.
