Senior Compliance Specialist

About the role

The Senior Compliance Specialist will support the Contracts & Procurement Department in Basra, Iraq, ensuring that all procurement activities comply with corporate policies, local regulations, and international sanctions. Reporting to the Compliance Section Head, the role is critical for maintaining a robust compliance framework across the project lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee compliance throughout the entire contract procurement lifecycle, from tendering to contract execution, in line with the company’s Supply Chain & Procurement Procedures (SCPP).
• Independently review tender documents, bid submissions, evaluation reports, and clarification letters to verify procedural fairness, transparency, and regulatory compliance.
• Identify potential compliance risks, prepare corrective action recommendations, and report findings to senior management.
• Collect, consolidate, and analyse departmental compliance data, producing monthly compliance reports for decision‑making.
• Organise and chair regular compliance meetings and ad‑hoc risk review sessions, record minutes, and track follow‑up actions.
• Deliver compliance training to enhance awareness and adherence among procurement teams.

Required profile

• Degree in Business Administration or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
• Minimum 8 years of experience in project administration, compliance, procurement processes, ERP, and document control, preferably within the Oil & Gas sector.
• At least 3 years of overseas experience; Middle‑East exposure is a plus.
• Demonstrated experience on Oil & Gas development projects similar to Block 9 (EDPSC) is highly preferred.
• Strong analytical and reporting skills with the ability to work independently and lead compliance initiatives.
