Public Health Manager / Public Health Technician – Iraq

About the role

Cherokee Federal is seeking an experienced Public Health Manager or Technician to support U.S. government medical operations in Iraq. The position is based in Baghdad and Erbil and involves overseeing public‑health safety, inspections, outbreak response, and health‑education programs.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee public‑health requirements for food and public facilities.
• Inspect food deliveries, storage, MREs, water‑purification units, bars, kitchens, barber shops, salons, and recreation areas.
• Review inspection reports for compliance and confirm food‑handler training.
• Report significant findings within 12 hours and investigate food‑borne illness outbreaks.
• Develop and maintain inspection SOPs and publish heat‑index alerts twice daily during summer.
• Track occupational injuries, disease trends, blood‑borne pathogens, and conduct patient tracing.
• Design disease‑prevention, needle‑stick exposure, and health‑education programs.
• Provide guidance to the Department of State and other contractors.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years experience as a Public Health Manager or Technician.
• U.S. citizenship with an active U.S. passport; ability to obtain a Secret clearance.
• Willingness to work overtime, holidays, and weekends as required.
