National Project Officer (Reparations and Transitional Justice)

About the role

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is seeking a National Project Officer to support the development, implementation, monitoring and reporting of activities under Pillar II (Reparations and Transitional Justice) of the Legal Empowerment and Transitional Justice Unit. Based in Erbil, the officer will work closely with the Peace, Recovery and Solutions Division, the unit head and technical leads across headquarters and administrative centres.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in designing and delivering reparations and transitional justice programmes in line with IOM strategic objectives.
• Coordinate project activities, ensuring timely implementation, monitoring and accurate reporting.
• Collaborate with legal, technical and partner teams to integrate rule‑of‑law and access‑to‑justice components.
• Prepare documentation, briefs and progress reports for internal and external stakeholders.
• Support capacity‑building initiatives and knowledge‑sharing events related to post‑conflict justice.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Law, Political or Social Sciences, International Relations, Human Rights, Transitional Justice, Development Studies, Migration Studies or a related field, with at least two years relevant experience; or a university degree with four years relevant experience.
• Demonstrated experience in transitional justice, reparations, rule of law, access to justice or protection programming, preferably in post‑conflict or humanitarian settings.
• Proven ability to manage the full project cycle, from planning through implementation and evaluation.
