English Language Instructor

About the role

The American University of Iraq, Baghdad (AUIB) is seeking a dynamic English Language Instructor to deliver high‑quality English instruction and support students in mastering the language and academic skills needed for English‑medium higher education. This full‑time position involves teaching, assessing, and mentoring learners across reading, writing, listening and speaking domains.

Key responsibilities

• Teach reading, writing, listening and speaking skills at designated proficiency levels.
• Develop students’ academic writing, presentation, critical reading and discussion abilities.
• Design and deliver engaging lesson plans aligned with curriculum outcomes.
• Create, administer and grade assignments, tests and other assessments.
• Monitor student progress, provide feedback and maintain records in the LMS.
• Offer office hours and one‑on‑one academic guidance.
• Contribute to curriculum improvement and collaborate with faculty.

Required profile

• Strong, student‑centered teaching abilities.
• Knowledge of EFL and EAP methodologies.
• Excellent verbal and written English communication.
• Ability to collaborate with academic teams.
• Adaptability to a multicultural learning environment.

Required skills

• LMS usage for attendance, grading and performance tracking.
