Civil Engineer – Onsite (Oil & Gas)

About the role

The Civil Engineer will provide on‑site civil engineering support for oil and gas projects in Basra, Iraq. You will oversee construction activities, ensure compliance with engineering standards and safety regulations, and help deliver projects on time and within budget.

Key responsibilities

• Execute and supervise civil works such as foundations, concrete works, earthworks, drainage and structural elements.
• Review and interpret engineering drawings, specifications and project documents.
• Coordinate with project managers, construction teams, subcontractors and other engineering disciplines.
• Monitor site activities for compliance with HSE standards, quality requirements and KBR procedures.
• Conduct site inspections, technical assessments and progress reporting.
• Identify and resolve civil engineering issues encountered during construction.
• Support commissioning, handover activities and maintain accurate as‑built records.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of hands‑on civil engineering experience, preferably in oil & gas.
• Proven experience working on‑site in brownfield or greenfield projects.
• Strong knowledge of civil engineering principles for oil and gas facilities.

Required skills

• Concrete structures, foundations, steel supports, pavement and drainage systems.
• Interpretation of civil and structural drawings.
• Familiarity with international codes and standards (ACI, ASTM, BS).
• Construction sequencing and site management practices.
• HSE requirements in oil and gas environments.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD and MS Office.
