Civil Construction Lead – Oil, Gas & Water Projects

About the role

KBR Iraq is seeking an experienced Civil Construction Lead to drive safe, compliant, and technically robust civil works across major oil, gas and water facilities in Iraq. The role reports directly to project management and holds single‑point accountability for all civil activities within the assigned plant area.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and enforce site safety rules, SIMOPS controls and risk mitigation for earthworks, foundations, structural concrete, steel structures, roads, drainage and underground utilities.
• Own the technical scope, ensuring design intent, IFC drawing compliance and alignment with operational constraints.
• Coordinate multi‑discipline interfaces with mechanical, piping, electrical, instrumentation, telecom and commissioning teams.
• Manage contractor performance, quality, schedule and safety, resolving conflicts and controlling workforce activities.
• Conduct detailed safety audits, verify barricading, excavation safety, lifting operations and scaffolding compliance.
• Ensure work‑front readiness: approved drawings, surveys, geotechnical checks, material availability, utility mapping, permits, JSA and risk assessments.
• Drive technical assurance by raising and tracking Technical Queries, Site Instructions and Field Change Requests.
• Lead construction work‑pack reviews and oversee quality compliance for concrete batching, rebar installation, formwork, soil compaction, steel alignment and bolt torquing.
• Minimize non‑productive time through proactive planning and vendor mobilisation.

Required profile

• Senior civil engineering professional with extensive experience in large‑scale oil & gas infrastructure projects.
• Proven leadership in multi‑discipline construction environments and live operational sites.
• Strong understanding of safety, quality and technical standards in civil works.
