Category Manager – Non Food

About the role

Baly, Iraq’s leading super‑app, is expanding its grocery business and seeks a Category Manager – Non Food to drive growth across household, personal care and other non‑food categories. You will own the commercial performance of the category, from assortment planning to supplier negotiations and promotional execution.

Key responsibilities

• Own sales, margin, availability and overall commercial performance of the Non Food category.
• Manage product ranges including Household, Personal Care, Cleaning, Baby Care and related items.
• Develop and optimise assortment based on customer demand, SKU performance and market trends.
• Oversee the full SKU lifecycle: introductions, rationalisation, delisting and range optimisation.
• Source and onboard suppliers, negotiating costs, margins, payment terms, rebates and commercial agreements.
• Maintain strong relationships with FMCG manufacturers, distributors and key suppliers.
• Monitor supplier performance – fill rates, delivery reliability, lead times, quality and commercial commitments.
• Design competitive pricing strategies using market benchmarking and margin targets.
• Plan and execute supplier‑funded promotions, evaluating uplift, margin impact and ROI.
• Collaborate with Supply Chain and Store Operations for demand planning and replenishment.
• Identify and act on slow‑moving, low‑performing or overstocked products.
• Ensure accurate product master data, costs, prices and category hierarchies across systems.
• Work with Product, Growth and Marketing teams to improve merchandising and visibility.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Supply Chain or a related field.
• 4+ years of experience in FMCG, retail buying, category management or a similar commercial role.
• Strong experience in Non Food, Household or Personal Care categories.
• Proven supplier negotiation and commercial mindset.
