Protection Assistant – Diyala (Re‑advertised)

About the role

Under the supervision of the Protection Team Leader, the Protection Assistant will carry out protection activities for vulnerable families in Diyala, including case management, community‑based protection, and violence‑against‑women and men interventions. The role involves close coordination with team members and external partners to ensure quality and timely assistance.

Key responsibilities

• Identify individuals in need of protection and provide case management following DRC SOPs, including assessment, planning, follow‑up and closure.
• Conduct mobile intake, referrals and psychosocial support for beneficiaries of all ages and abilities.
• Facilitate community consultations, focus group discussions and awareness sessions using validated DRC materials.
• Document all protection activities accurately in DRC’s information management system and produce regular activity reports.
• Support the Protection Officer with administrative tasks such as purchase requests and MEAL tool implementation.

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years of relevant protection experience in a humanitarian setting.
• Diploma in social work, humanities, law, counseling, psychology or a related field.
• Fluency in Arabic and ability to communicate/write in English.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality, work flexible hours and prioritize beneficiary safety.
