About the role
The Field Engineering Manager (Instrumentation) will lead the Instrumentation & Control Field Engineering function for oil & gas production facilities in Kirkuk, Iraq. This senior position provides technical leadership across operations, maintenance, and safety systems while supporting large‑scale energy projects.
Key responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate instrumentation and control engineering activities supporting O&M across oil & gas facilities.
- Provide technical leadership for field instrumentation, process control, safety instrumented systems (SIS), fire & gas systems and related automation infrastructure.
- Act as the focal point between Operations, Maintenance, Integrity, Projects and Technical Authorities on all instrumentation matters.
- Ensure engineering support maintains instrumentation reliability, control system availability and production performance.
- Lead assessments, recommend solutions to improve control system performance and plant operability.
- Support lifecycle management of DCS, PLC, SCADA, SIS and field instrumentation systems.
- Interface with vendors, OEMs, contractors and service providers to resolve technical issues.
- Develop and mentor engineering personnel, promoting knowledge sharing and competency development.
Required profile
- Bachelor's degree in Instrumentation, Electronics, Automation, Electrical Engineering or related field.
- Minimum 15 years of oil & gas experience, with at least 5 years in a supervisory or management role.
- Strong understanding of instrumentation engineering, process control and functional safety principles.
- Experience supporting brownfield operating facilities and working with international operators or EPC contractors.
Required skills
- DCS, PLC, SCADA, SIS, Fire & Gas Systems
- IEC 61508, IEC 61511, relevant ISO standards
- Management of Change (MOC), Root Cause Analysis (RCA), Risk Assessment
- CMMS systems such as SAP PM or Maximo
- Excellent communication and report‑writing skills in English (Arabic advantageous)
