Engineering Manager – Power Plant Projects

About the role

The Engineering Manager will lead the engineering function for Power Planet's power plant projects in Erbil. You will ensure that all engineering systems meet functional, safety, reliability and maintainability requirements while coordinating closely with design contractors and internal teams.

Key responsibilities

• Chair and attend meetings with the Project Director, owner’s engineer, EPC contractor and internal teams to review requirements and progress.
• Prepare and issue progress reports and executive summaries for senior management.
• Coordinate and review technical work of the engineering department, ensuring compliance with project specifications.
• Approve engineering schedules, scope changes and variation orders, aiming to minimise deviations.
• Ensure engineering documents are detailed enough for procurement, construction and commissioning.
• Arbitrate inter‑departmental coordination issues and approve any specification deviations.

Required profile

• 13+ years of experience in power plant projects, including at least 5 years in a managerial role.
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
• Demonstrated ability to assess technical and commercial aspects of projects.
• Strong communication skills in English; Arabic and Kurdish are a plus.

Required skills

• Proficiency with MS Office.
• AutoCAD.
• Primavera P6 or equivalent scheduling software.
• PMP knowledge or certification.
