Emergency Room Medical Doctor

About the role

Provide direct physician care in Balad, primarily supporting local national employees through evaluation, treatment, preventive care, stabilization, and continuity of care. The position is onsite at International SOS Government Medical Services.

Key responsibilities

• Evaluate and triage patients, diagnose illnesses and injuries, and treat acute and chronic conditions.
• Develop treatment plans, prescribe medications, manage the site formulary, and order/interpret diagnostic tests.
• Maintain accurate patient health information, histories, and medical records.
• Conduct employee medical evaluations, including annual physicals, testing, and immunizations, ensuring compliance with U.S. and host‑country clearance requirements.
• Stabilize patients needing higher‑level care and coordinate medical evacuation, referrals, and handovers with external resources.

Required profile

• Graduate of an accredited Iraqi medical school or international equivalent.
• Current license to practice medicine in Iraq.
• Minimum three years of physician experience, including recent field work.
• Fluent in English and Arabic, both written and spoken.
• Valid passport and ability to lift at least 50 lb.

Required skills

• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• Proficiency with electronic medical record (EMR) systems.
